Thank you to all...

I received lots of Happy Teacher's Day greetings yesterday.. Am really glad to have current students, former students, fellow friends near and far to remember this date (23 September) as one of the most important dates in our career being teachers or educators.

Not many people liked to be teachers but I somehow felt that this profession has given me the chance to be who I can be and what I can do to help the youths from being a nobody to being somebody.. in a positive note, be a somebody useful to the society. Alhamdulillah.. Being the youngest in the family, I grew up to be one of the intellect in my family (I'm not being boastful here.. just being honest in my statements.. and a little praise for myself and Alhamdulillah to Allah) and everybody in the family is counting on me to do the very best in my life to help out the family in the future. I'm very thankful to my parents whom have brought me up well with education from the very first day I was born up till now I'm still learning to make the odds, being thruthful to the knowledge that was passed on from my former teachers and lecturers.. Being an Education Officer, I have the opportunity to be a teacher in the field that I'm very much an expert, i.e. Mathematics... (not another episode of being 'masuk bakul angkat sendiri'). Well, otherwise I would not dwell into doing Mathematics Education in my Masters of Education.. It's my favourite subject.

For your info, actually I did failed Mathematics once when I was in Primary 6!! but that was the starting point for my future career.. I was determined to prove to myself to not fail again, never again!! I was so depressed that I cried.. SERIOUSLY!! My parents had to 'pujuk' me not to feel down as I never stopped crying and blaming myself.. I was really mad at myself for having done that.. Hey, I never failed before.. worst of all, that result has caused me to get an 'F' for my whole result.. It was quite mean those times where, when we do not perform our best or get an 'F' in either BM, English, Maths, we will surely get an 'F', though we ACED the other subjects.. Well, that was cruel those times.. Really an experience that made me be more determined to do better!

Alhamdulillah I passed with flying colours in my PCE (Primary Certificate of Education) and didn't get anything less than A's and B's. I guess 'semua sudah ditentukan and ada hikmahnya'.. Now.. I'm a teacher specialising in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics.. Tough isn't it?

But I enjoyed teaching Mathematics to my students and I really like their presence in class or extra classes.. though not many turned up during extra classes.. I really hope that they realize that it is very important for them to be extra ready when facing their future goals by getting at least a pass in Mathematics at O levels.. Just think about it dear students.. I'm here to help you guys out and be more successful later on.. perhaps be in the entrepreneurship or the likes (business) and maybe be an accountant in Public or Private firms.. Think about it, will you? ;-)

I then realize that my understanding in Mathematics does not only imply that I know how to add or subtract or do the basic operations with numbers, but I also do know how things work mechanically, and scientifically, genetically (biological), statistically (analysis), combinations or arrangements of schedules (combinatorics) and many more. I also do have the knowledge on how to calculate insurance, interest and loan repayments. That is the beauty of Mathematics.. It is not only merely numbers or make you go to sleep when you can't do it.. sigh..

Baking cakes or cooking also involves mathematics.. can't believe it? Try it out.. You need to know how much you need in your ingredients and by how high the temperature you need to bake your cakes or puddings. So, now you see it.. Life is full of Mathematics..

So, be grateful to all whatever your Mathematics teachers have taught you and learn something from them. It is not a waste of time to learn as you are growing up, your experiences will teach you to learn something (the hidden curriculum). Not only to Mathematics teachers, but also to all your teachers..

To my former teachers, Happy Teacher's Day to all of you who have taught me valuable lessons and knowledge which I will share with my students. Thank you very much.
